How fresh are Stevenage Bait and Tackle maggots?

We get a fresh delivery every week (Thursday). The Maggots are then stored in our chiller, for freshness. As soon as the maggots are delivered, the maggots are riddled, cleaned, and stored in a clean, dry, and cold environment.

Once the maggots are ready for sale, they are transported into the shop to then be displayed in our shop fridge.

How do I store my maggots?

When purchasing Maggots from Stevenage Bait and Tackle, you will have the option of putting either maize flour or sawdust on your maggots. The purpose of this is to allow the customer to chose how they would like to keep their maggots once purchased. Maggots can sweat if kept in the warmer environment for periods of time, so adding one of these will prolong the freshness whilst being stored and on the bank. Sawdust will allow your maggots to stay fresher for longer and maize flour is finer and makes the maggots easier to hook.

Bait containers!

Please remember, when purchasing maggots from Stevenage Bait and Tackle, we will ask you to have a suitable bait container. Either a maggot tub, or bucket with small holes in for air.

We hold many different company containers on site.

How many maggots should I buy?

Our maggots are sold as a minimum of 1/4 of pint and are sold in store only. If you need some information on what quantity to purchase for the angling you are planning to do, please ask one of our members of staff in store.

If you would like to purchase a large quantity of maggots or caster, please call us up on the Friday for delivery the following Thursday, as we will need to order these in specially.
